Mixing colors, holding a brush and applying strokes
on a canvas help me unleash ardent feelings.
It is liberating!
Healers
One Healer is my mother. “In Loving Memory of Khnata” is a painting extremely close to my heart. It is a tribute to and a celebration of Khnata, my late mother. I made it in 2012, a time which ushered in a major feature of my current artistic creativity; namely, using crafts that Mom had made by hand.
Khadija Zizi
About Me
I am Khadija Zizi, a mixed media artist, based in
Rabat, Morocco. I started painting in 2000. My passion for this particular art form grew out of the need to express my emotions and listen to my senses.
My paintings range from bringing home some exhilarating travels, to expressing my love for music and hailing women! My artistic approach is indeed eclectic. I combine acrylics with sand, resin, fabrics and pearls; I do collage as well.
Testimonials
The exhibit is a pretext to celebrate the healing force of the interpretations of cultures, a moment of inclusion and sharing, the highest forms of tolerance and the surest path to happiness. It is a voyage that brings far away sites closer to each other than one has imagined to be possible, ever. It reduces spaces, collapses walls and thrusts the viewer into the whole history of her artistic experience. It is an exercise of tolerance; a feast of emotions unleashed, pleased and happy to have met an artist whose only claims are over herself, an artist at the scale of the human.

When Khadija Zizi told me that one of her themes was "Marocanité", I started looking for paintings depicting 'Siesta'. In a Mediterranean country such as Morocco, taking a 15 minute nap is quite important during spring and summer time. So I asked Khadija about the Siesta. "I never have time for Siesta: I am always on the run, " she answered with her very innocent smile. When it comes to the tea ceremony painting, Khadija served the viewer her tea with huge Briouates (crispy pastries). She was quite generous and I also appreciated her sense of keeping traditions alive: The tea ceremony was authentic!

Thanks to her determination and perseverance to achieve the best, Khadija Zizi is an active member of my art studio. Her paintings stand out by their simplicity and spontaneity. She uses acrylics with mixed media (paper, fabric, pearls, etc.), which adds an aesthetic dimension to her art. Khadija’s inspiration comes from a large variety of subjects and also from many facets of everyday life. I wish her the best.
